This furniture piece was designed for the library by Interior Architect Prof. Gazanfer Erim, one of the winners of the Interior Design Contest launched for The Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 1959. Two of the newspaper racks, whose application drawing were dated to December 1959 and which were produced between 1960 and 1961, are still used in the library of the assembly at the present time.
