Thomas KEOGH

Thomas Keogh was born in The Republic of Ireland in 1963. Having studied construction studies and architectural technology up until 1987, he subsequently gained wide experience in architectural practices in Ireland, The United Kingdom and Australia. He returned to the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in 1998 to obtain a Joint Degree in Fine Art Painting and the History of Irish Art, for which he received a highly commended first. Having become interested in Art curating he completed a Masters in Creative Curating at Goldsmiths College, New Cross London in 2008. He has curated a number of Art Exhibitions in Ireland, The United Kingdom, Spain and Turkey. He was also involved in an art project with Tobias Rehberger ‘London to Beijing’ which has been presented in the Goethe Institute London, as part of the 2009 Istanbul Biennale, in Almaty Kazakhstan and in Beijing China. He ran an art project space ‘Meals and SUVs’ in London from 2006 until 2009 which presented a number of group and individual exhibitions. The space also provided low cost artists’ studios. At the moment he is running a project space ‘Maquis Projects’ in Kemeralti Izmir which includes exhibition and studio spaces and also the possibility of residency programs. He has previously taught in the Architectural department of the Universitad International de Catalunya in Barcelona. In Izmir Ekonomi Universitesi as well as teaching studio class, the history of Art and Design, and Architectural Restoration, he has developed an elective presenting the history of Turkish Art.
